8.5.1: Calculate the intensity of the Sun's radiation incident on a planet.

8.5.2: Define Albedo
Albedo is the propotion or percent of solar radiation of all wavelengths reflected by a body or surface to the amount incedent upon it. Albedo is unitless and ranges from 0 to 1, 1 = 100% reflection 0 = 0% reflectoin. It can also be expressed as a % as seen below in the picture.

8.5.3 State factors that determine a planets albedo

Determinants:
  • Land-surface Temperature
  • Soil Moisture
  • Vegetation
  • Physical Structure of Land (Buildings, Mountains...)
  • Presence of Snow and Ice-covered Surfaces
  • Cloudiness in skies in high latitudes (Amount of Cloud-Cover)
  • Dust Concentration
